On Monday 14 November 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Melbourne, Victoria, to Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory.

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Lapulung Dhamarrandji, President, East Arnhem Regional Council, received a traditional welcome and met with Councillors, Local Authority Members and staff from the East Arnhem Regional Council.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with senior representatives of Aboriginal Corporations from across the East Arnhem region.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Yirrkla, where they attended a Bungal welcome, met with Traditional Owners, residents and members of local sporting clubs.
