On Monday 29 March 2010, at the Don Geddes Catalina Memorial Aged Care Facility, Rathmines, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General presented Mr Albert Cullen with the Australian Defence Medal and the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with South West Pacific clasp, and later joined the residents for morning tea.

Afterwards, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General received the 2010 Australian of the Year, Professor Patrick McGorry. Later, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Bryce, hosted a reception for the Royal Society of New South Wales, at which the Governor-General presented the Inaugural Fellow Awards.
