On Thursday 19 November 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC Retd and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Normanton to Elcho Island.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presided over an Investiture Ceremony at Shepherdson College. At the Ceremony the Governor-General presented Miss Ruth Dhurrkay SC with the Star of Courage.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of
Cr Kaye Thurlow, President, East Arnhem Regional Council, visited the Galiwin’ku Youth, Sport and Recreation Hall.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of
Mr Ross Mandi, Chairperson, Yalu Aboriginal Corporation, attended a picnic lunch and met with members of the Yalu Aboriginal Corporation and Galiwin’ku Community.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Government House, Canberra.
