On Sunday 27 April 2008 at Government House, Sydney, NSW, the Administrator, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, hosted a luncheon in honour of the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Right Honourable Helen Clark.

Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery departed the United Arab Emirates on a State Visit to the State of Israel. In Israel, at the King David Hotel, Jerusalem, Their Excellencies, as guests of honour, attended a reception to mark the 90th Anniversary of the Charge of the Light Horse, hosted by the Australian Ambassador to Israel, His Excellency Mr James Larson. Guests included: the Minister for Veterans' Affairs, the Honourable Mr Alan Griffin MP; the Honourable Ms Bronwyn Bishop MP; and Beersheeba Veterans Mr Ernest Archer; Mr Ronald Hatch; Mr Douglas Lade; Mr Edward Mulligan OAM; Mr Eric Nunn; Mr Dale Robertson; and Mr John Stuart.
