On Monday 4 May 2026, Their Excellencies the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC and Mr Simeon Beckett SC, travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. 

Then, Their Excellencies received Mr Andrew Shearer, Australian Ambassador Designate to Japan, at Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General provided an interview for the Museum of Australian Democracy at Government House, Canberra.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received a telephone call from Ms Sue-Anne Hunter, National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People.

Then, Their Excellencies, received Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan, at Government House, Canberra.
