On Monday 28 September 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. 

Then, the Governor-General hosted a morning tea for the Daniela Dwyer Foundation, Lifeline Canberra, and the National Australia Day Council, at Government House, Canberra.  

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Guilford Grammar School, Guilford, Western Australia, as they undertook a tour of Government House, Canberra. 

Later, the Governor-General recorded video messages for Radio Manpasand, ECORPA, The Smith Family and National Carers Week. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received a video call from Ms Catherine Freeman AC, Former Olympian and Community Advocate. 

Then, the Governor-General received a video call from Professor Lyndal Roper, Emeritus Regius Professor of History at the University of Oxford; Ms Inga Davis, Executive Director, Australian Academy of Humanities and Professor Jørgen Sejersted, Chair of the Board for the Holberg Prize.
