On Friday 23 January 2026, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, conducted a phone call with Mr Brett Pattinson, Board Member, North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club. 

Then, the Governor-General travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Dr Nick Mitzevich, Director, National Gallery of Australia, and Elspeth Pitt, Curator, Australia Art, at Government House. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General conducted phone calls with Cr Libby Stapleton, Mayor, Surf Coast Shire; Cr Jason Schram, Mayor, Colac Otway Shire; Cr Scott Jeffery, Mayor, Strathbogie Shire Council; Commissioner Mike Wassing AFSM, New South Wales SES; and Alistair Drayton, Chief Officer Operations, Victoria SES.
