On Wednesday 04 February 2026, Their Excellencies the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, and Mr Simeon Beckett SC, as guests of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, attended the State Funeral of Professor, the Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO, at St James Church in Sydney. 

Then, the Governor-General travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General co-hosted a Child Wellbeing Roundtable Dinner with Anne Hollonds, Former National Children's Commissioner at Government House, Canberra.
