On Monday 14 July 2025, Their Excellencies the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC and Mr Simeon Beckett SC, travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Rockhampton, Queensland.  

Then, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett, as guests of Admiral David Johnston AC RAN, Chief of the Australian Defence Force, attended a firepower demonstration as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett, as guests of Mr Matt Newell, Principal, visited Rockhampton State High School.  

Then, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett, as guests of Lance and Robynn Freeman, and Andy McDermott, Coordinator, Recognition and Customs, Australian Federal Police, presented a posthumous Australian Federal Police Service Medal to Constable Richard Norden. 

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett, as guests of Admiral David Johnston AC RAN, Chief of the Australian Defence Force, attended a dinner.
