On Friday 30 April 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Christine McLoughlin, Chancellor, officially opened and attended a lunch at the University of Wollongong's Molecular Horizons facility and Paul Wellings Building Dedication.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Wollongong, New South Wales to Government House, Australian Capital Territory.

In the evening, Mrs Hurley, as Patron, and the Governor-General, as guests of Ms Roland Peelman AM, Artistic Director, attended the Opening Gala for the 2021 Canberra International Music Festival.
