On Thursday 15 January 2026, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, conducted a live radio interview with Mr Charlie McKillop, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Far North Queensland. 

Then, the Governor-General, and His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett SC, travelled from Thursday Island, Queensland, to Masig (Yorke Island), Queensland.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies, attended a Civic Reception, Kai Kai (lunch), and viewed cultural performances, at the Village Centre Community Hall, Masig.

In the afternoon, Their Excellencies travelled from Masig, Queensland, to RAAF Base Scherger, Queensland. At RAAF Base Scherger, Their Excellencies met personnel from No. 35 Squadron and No. 27 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force. 

Then, Their Excellencies, travelled from RAAF Base Scherger, Queensland to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
