On Tuesday 16 December 2008, at the residence of the Australian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Mr Peter Heyward, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a breakfast with members of the Australian community in Timor-Leste.

Afterwards, in Maubara, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce as guests of the Director-General, Ministry of Health, Mr Agapito da Silva Soares, toured the Community Health Centre and Birthing House. Later, at Fundasuan Alola, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of Her Excellency Madame Kirsty Sword-Gusmao and the Executive Director, Ms Anne Finch, received a briefing on the Fundasuan Alola UNSW Health Seeking Behaviour Study and the Economic Development Program, followed by a tour of the Children's Centre and Women's Resource Centre. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce returned to Australia on completion of their State Visit to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
