The Governor-General acknowledges the passing of former Governor-General The Right Reverend the Honourable Dr Peter Hollingworth AC OBE and extends her sincere condolences to his family.

Dr Hollingworth was the 23rd Governor-General of Australia. He served from 29 June 2001 – 29 May 2003.

The Governor-General notes the statement issued by the Anglican Archbishop of Brisbane Jeremy Greaves which acknowledged the hurt and distress experienced by some members of the Australian community. Her thoughts are today also with them and their families.
