Governor-General to visit New Zealand
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will visit New Zealand from 16-18 April.
“Australia’s bond with New Zealand is unbreakable. Our shared history and modern partnership shape our commitment to the future of our region. Ahead of my last Anzac Day as Governor-General, I’m honoured to have the opportunity to recognise our shared Anzac legacy in New Zealand, and to celebrate the close relationship between our people,” the Governor-General said.
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will:
- attend a State Dinner hosted by Her Excellency Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand, and His Excellency Dr Richard Davies
- lay a wreath at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park
- tour the Auckland War Memorial
- participate in a Kiwi Release on Rotoroa Island; and
- meet Australians and New Zealanders whose work is strengthening and growing our nations’ partnership.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, will serve as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia during the visit.
