As Commander-in-Chief, the Governor-General acknowledges the enormous sacrifices made by those who serve in the Australian Defence Force.  
During her visits to regional towns and cities across Australia, it is particularly important to pause and reflect on the servicemen and women lost in those communities.  While in Merimbula, the Governor-General laid a wreath at the Merimbula War Memorial and spent time with her Army Aide-de-Camp Captain Tom Etheridge, reading the names and reflecting on those commemorated across all theatres of war.
