Thursday, 22 January 2026 - The Governor-General reads Psalm 23 on behalf of The King
Sharri Markson, HOST: “Since the terror attack the Governor-General has stood alongside Jewish Australians attending funerals and listening to community’s concerns. Can I please invite, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn, the Governor-General of Australia to recite Psalm 23”
GOVERNOR-GENERAL: As Governor-General I am proud to be here to continue to support the Jewish community. Following conversations with His Majesty The King, he has asked me to read Psalm 23.
A psalm of David.
The Lord is my Shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters.
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
for His name’s sake.
Though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me.
You set a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup is filled to overflowing.
May goodness and kindness
follow me all the days of my life,
and may I live in the House of the Lord
For evermore.
