Visit to Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and Poland

The Governor-General, who is Patron of Commonwealth Games Australia, and Mrs Hurley, will attend the Opening Ceremony and support the Australian team in the opening days of competition of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. 

The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will travel from the United Kingdom to Poland to celebrate 50 years of full diplomatic relations between Australia and Poland. The visit, the first ever by an Australian Governor-General to Poland, will include meetings with His Excellency Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, and Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, and Speakers of the Polish Senate and Sejm. 

The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will depart Australia on 26 July and return on 4 August. Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, will serve as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia during the visit.
