Australian Bravery Decorations - Bondi Junction 2024 - Honours List
13 April 2026
On the second anniversary of the tragedy that occurred at Bondi Junction in 2024, the Governor-General has announced a special Australian Bravery Decorations honours list that recognises the courage of eight remarkable individuals.
The list was recommended by the independent Australian Bravery Decorations Council and honours those who put themselves in danger on that terrible day. It sadly includes two posthumous awards for those who lost their lives to save the lives of others.

Reflecting on those honoured, the Governor-General said:
“From different parts of Australia, and around the world, these Bravery honourees are characterised by their selfless, courageous, and determined response in unspeakable and horrific circumstances.”
“Every one of them showed strength, and profound courage, as they placed the safety of others above their own, demonstrating ultimate care for others.”
“Their acts of bravery reflect the best of us, and remind us of the valour, compassion and service that are enduring and present across our communities.”
“We also pay tribute to the 12 people injured, for their recovery and wellbeing, and all those whose lives were changed forever by the violence they witnessed on that terrible day.”
Six Bravery Medals and two Commendation for Brave Conduct will be awarded.
Today, Australia honours, remembers and thanks them for their bravery.
