Professor Nickolai Titov AM

For almost 20 years, Professor Nickolai Titov AM has been involved in the development and testing of psychological treatments that can be delivered digitally.

He is a clinical psychologist, clinical researcher, and a professor of psychology at Macquarie University. He is also executive director and founder of MindSpot, a national digital psychology service that has delivered care to more than 250,000 Australians.

He was appointed a Member of the Order for significant service to digital mental health and wellness, and to tertiary education in The King’s Birthday 2025 Honours list.

“Society and civilisations thrive when people thrive. I am motivated to find, create and share tools and ideas that can help people be the best versions of themselves,” Professor Titov says.

“By doing that, I believe our families, communities and our broader society will benefit. And, if we are mentally healthy, we are more likely to make good decisions for the future of this world.”

Professor Titov is a board member of the International Society for Research in Internet Interventions, member of the Expert Advisory Group for the Stay Strong Aboriginal and Islander Mental Health Initiative, and scientific advisor for the Norwegian Centre for Mobile Mental Health.

He was recently a member of the Technical Advisory Group for the Development of the Third National Adult Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing, and the Digital Mental Health Advisory Committee at the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care.

Professor Titov says he was humbled, grateful and shocked when we found out about his recognition.

“I am very flattered, knowing how many Australians each year do incredible work for their communities.

“I see this recognition as a reflection of the wonderful support and efforts of my loving family, and my wonderful colleagues and friends over many, many years.

“The Australian Honours system inspires all Australians. Learning about the incredible contributions of other Australians helps us to focus on what each of us can do to improve the lives of those living today as well as for the benefit of generations to come.

“This award inspires me to continue my work. It will also help to amplify it, and the messages about the things we can all do each day to stay psychologically healthy.”
