On Monday 3 September 2018, at the Royal Australian Mint, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended the launch of the new effigy of Her Majesty the Queen on Australian coins, as guests of Mr Ross MacDiarmid, CEO, Royal Australian Mint.

Afterwards, at Victoria Barracks, Sydney, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Invictus Games athletes and received an update on the 2018 Invictus Games Sydney from Mr Ben Rahilly, Chief Operating Officer.

On Saturday 01 September 2018, at the Gundagai Showgrounds, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended the 7th Light Horse Troop Gundagai parade and commemorative service, as guests of Mr Richard Erkelens, Vice-President, Gundagai RSL.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Australian Red Cross staff and volunteers assisting with drought relief efforts.

On Friday 31 August 2018, at the National Arboretum, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended an event for National Wattle Day. The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove conducted a ceremonial planting of a golden wattle tree for the National Arboretum and were presented a basket of wattle from students from the Islamic School of Canberra.

On Thursday 30 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, conducted an Investiture Ceremony, at which Dr Barry McGowan OAM was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (General Division), at Canberra Hospital.

Later, the Governor-General received Vice Admiral Michael Noonan AO RAN, Chief of Navy, at Government House, Canberra.

On Wednesday 29 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Dr Basim Hattab Altumma, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Lubna Abdulkareem (Third Secretary), and

Mr Ahmed Sabbar (Protocol Officer).

On Tuesday 28 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

On Monday 27 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Oath of Office to the newly-appointed Minister for Home Affairs, The Honourable Peter Dutton MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Caloundra City School, QLD; St Peter & Paul Catholic School; and Casino Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Friday 24 August 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the resignation of the Honourable Malcom Turnbull MP as Prime Minister of Australia.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General issued the Oath of Office to the newly-appointed Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Scott Morrison MP, and Treasurer, the Honourable Joshua Frydenberg MP.

On Wednesday 23 August 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from Humpybong State School; and Goondiwindi State School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
