On Tuesday 12 December 2017, at Royal Military College, Duntroon, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Royal Military College General Service Officer graduation parade and commissioning ceremony.
Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Murray Bridge High School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
On Monday 11 December 2017, at Ronald McDonald House, Westmead, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Executive Officer, Ms Belinda Woolford, visited the Ronald McDonald House and met with staff and families.
Afterwards, at the Salvation Army Streetlevel Mission, Surry Hills, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mission Leader, Ms Robyn Evans, visited the mission and met with staff and clients.
On Friday 8 December 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP, and the Attorney-General, Senator the Honourable George Brandis QC, and assented to the Marriage Amendment (Definition and Religious Freedoms) Bill 2017.
Afterwards, the Governor-General presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
On Thursday 7 December 2017, at Radio 1RPH, Gungahlin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the President, Ms Lorraine Litster, broadcast content for print handicap listeners in the Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Junee areas.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador to the United States of America, the Honourable Joe Hockey.
On Wednesday 6 December 2017, at the Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2017 Australian Command and Staff College graduation and reception.
Afterwards, at the Ambassador for the Republic of Finland’s residence, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of His Excellency Mr Lars Backström and Mrs Brigitta Backström, attended a reception celebrating the centenary of the Republic of Finland.
On Tuesday 5 December 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the High Commissioner-designate to Fiji, Mr John Fakes.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea and presentation ceremony for the Australian Red Cross’ 2017 Florence Nightingale Medal recipients.
