Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

On Wednesday 7 September 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to Brazil, His Excellency John Richardson, attended a lunch with Australian Paralympic Committee officials.

Afterwards, at the Itamaraty Palace, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, His Excellency Michel Temer, attended a welcome reception for visiting Heads of State and Heads of Government.

On Tuesday 6 September 2016, at Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, Rio de Janeiro, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the Federative Republic of Brazil by the Australian Ambassador to Brazil, His Excellency Mr John Richardson and Ms Yvonne Flanders.

Afterwards, at the Olympic Village, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Australian Chef de Mission, Ms Kate McLoughlin.

Cowra, NSW; Canberra, ACT

On Monday 5 September 2016, at the Agricultural Research and Advisory Station, Cowra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager of Central Cluster, Research Services, NSW Department of Primary Industries, Mr Peter Droulers, viewed agronomy research trials and research facilities and received a brief on current research projects.

Woodstock, NSW; Cowra, NSW

On Sunday 4 September 2016, at the Woodstock Showgrounds, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove officially opened the 70th Woodstock Memorial Show.

Afterwards, at the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Mr Bob Griffiths, viewed the gardens and exhibits and met with staff and volunteers.

Canberra, ACT

On Thursday 1 September 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Canberra, ACT

On Wednesday 31 August 2016, in Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, met with volunteers of Meals on Wheels ACT and delivered meals to clients in Tuggranong to celebrate National Meals on Wheels Day.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General hosted a morning tea for National Wattle Day, at which the Governor-General was presented with a basket of wattle by students from Holy Spirit Primary School.

Sydney, NSW

On Friday 2 September 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea to launch National Child Protection Week 2016.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove farewelled members of the Australian Paralympic Team, bound for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Canberra, ACT; Brisbane, QLD

On Tuesday 30 August 2016, at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Forrest, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove attended an Ecumenical Service to commemorate the commencement of the Forty-Fifth Commonwealth Parliament.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from St Pius X Catholic School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Sydney, NSW; Canberra, ACT

On Monday 29 August 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of the Australian Olympic Committee, and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome home reception for the Rio 2016 Australian Olympic Team.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Craigslea Primary School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Sydney, NSW

On Thursday 25 August 2016, at Bondi Icebergs, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron and guest of the President of Surf Life Saving Australia, Mr Graham Ford AM, attended a ceremony to officially re-opening of Surf House, at which the Governor-General also presented the National Rescue of the Month Awards for January, February and April.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as guest of the President, Mr Ken Rennie, attended the Australian Golf Club’s War Memorial and War Service Trophy Golf Day.
