On Friday 31 March 2017, on Hamilton Island, the Governor-General, General the Hounourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Chief Executive Officer of Hamilton Island, Mr Glenn Bourke, was briefed on the impact of Tropical Cyclone Debbie and the subsequent recovery efforts.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Bourke, viewed cyclone affected properties and met with volunteer response clean-up crews.

Later, at Hamilton Island airport, the Governor-General met with passengers being evacuated from the island.

On Thursday 30 March 2017, at the National Portrait Gallery, Parkes, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest speaker, and Lady Cosgrove attended a diplomatic briefing for the Commonwealth High Commissions in preparation for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

On Wednesday 29 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received video calls from students attending Moree Public School, NSW; and Mt St Benedict School, NSW, as part of their civics and citizenship classes.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students from Kilvington Grammar School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Tuesday 28 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received the Chair of the International Humanitarian City in the United Arab Emirates and spouse of the Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Royal Highness Princess Haya bint Al-Hussein.

On Monday 27 March 2017, at the Commonwealth Games Corporation Headquarters, Gold Coast, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, received a briefing on operations and met with staff and volunteers.

Afterwards, at Griffith University, Gold Coast, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Chancellor, Mr Henry Smerdon AM.

On Sunday 26 March 2017, at St Mary’s Church, Goondiwindi, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Parish Priest, Father Michael O’Brien, attended a Sunday service.

Afterwards, at the Goondiwindi Regional Civic Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of the Goondiwindi Regional Council, Councillor Graeme Scheu, viewed the facilities and met with staff and volunteers.

On Saturday 25 March 2017, at Queens Park, Warwick, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director of Coaching, Mr Tim Gaske, viewed a Warwick Wolves Football Development Academy training session and met with staff, volunteers, students and families. The Warwick Wolves Football Development Academy is designed to provide budding footballers with the opportunity to develop soccer skills and encourage personal development.

On Friday 24 March 2017, at Ferguson Park, Enoggera, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Royal Australian Regiment Association Queensland, Lieutenant Colonel Ted Chitham MC OAM (Retd), opened the new Royal Australian Regiment memorial.

In the afternoon, at Spicers Retreat, Grandchester, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Flight Centre Travel Group Limited, Mr Graham Turner, opened the Hidden Vale UQ Wildlife Centre.

On Thursday 23 March 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC and the Official Secretary to the Governor of South Australia, Mr Hugh Borrowman.

Afterwards, at Kingston Oval, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove opened the DreamCricket Gala Day.

On Wednesday 22 March 2017, at Parliament House, Canberra, Her Excellency Lady Cosgrove, as Ambassador, attended the official launch of the Kookaburra Kids Program for Serving and Ex-Serving Australian Defence Force families.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), at Government House, Canberra, received video calls from students attending Esperance Primary School, WA; and Aratula State School, QLD, as part of their civics and citizenship classes.
