On Thursday 11 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), Canberra, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Australian Defence Force Academy Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General presented the Commander-in-Chief’s medal.

At Government House, Canberra, ACT, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of Ukraine, His Excellency Mr Petro Poroshenko, and Her Excellency Mrs Maryna Poroshenko before meeting with the President and Mrs Poroshenko and hosting a State Dinner in their honour.

On Wednesday 10 December, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a farewell lunch for the Director of Corporate Services, Mrs Karen Baker. Guests included: Mr Daniel Baker and Mrs Elizabeth Baker; Mr Dean Baker; Ms Rachelle Baker; Mrs Kerry Cox; Mr Norm Dunn RVM; Mr Mark Fraser LVO OAM; Ms Julianne Gepp; Mrs Glenda Hausler; Mr Matt Malone; Mr Stephen Murtagh; Ms Harriet Spring; and Mr Clement Tyhuis.

On Tuesday 9 December, at Duntroon, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Royal Military College General Service Officer Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General presented the Sword of Honour and The Queen’s Medal, and afterwards presented Commission and Graduation Certificates to the Graduating class of December 2014.

On Monday 8 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Mr George Vengesa, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dominic Buhera (Counselor), Mr Givemore Nyanzou (First Secretary) and Ms Maria Mapfumo (Third Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Auxilia Vengesa.

On Sunday 7 December 2014, at the Adelaide Oval, South Australia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with the Australian Cricket Team to offer his encouragement and support following the passing of cricketer Phillip Hughes, ahead of the first test match against India.

On Friday 5 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a Christmas Sports Fun Day for students of schools in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding region.

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Christmas Sports Fun Day for more than 1,000 primary school students from the ACT and surrounds, who took part in demonstrations, drills and workshops by 11 sports – AFL, cricket, hockey, little athletics, netball, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, tennis, touch football and volleyball – encouraging active and healthy lifestyles, inclusiveness in the classroom and playground, and ‘having a go’.
