Visit to the United Kingdom

On Saturday 2 August 2014, at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Men’s Hockey Semi-Final between Australia and England.

Afterwards, at Scotstoun, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Men’s Doubles Squash Semi-Final between Australia and England.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Women’s Squash Bronze Medal Match between Australian and England.

Federal Executive Council; Visit to the United Kingdom

On Friday 1 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, in Glasgow, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of the Australian Commonwealth Games Association, met with the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Perry Crosswhite AM, and Mrs Janice Crosswhite OAM.

Visit to Police Scotland

In Glasgow, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Senior Liaison Officer, Detective Superintendent Kieran Miller, and Police Scotland Deputy Chief Constable Steve Allen and Assistant Chief Constable Derek Robertson, visited the Police Scotland Incident Control Unit Headquarters and Multi Agency Control Centre to meet embedded AFP officers and Police Scotland personnel involved in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

On Thursday 31 July 2014, at Hyde Park Corner, London, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency the Honourable Alexander Downer AC, attended a commemorative ceremony and together with the Deputy High Commissioner of New Zealand, Mr Rob Taylor, laid a wreath at the Australian War Memorial and New Zealand War Memorial.

At Hyde Park Corner, London, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency the Honourable Alexander Downer AC, attended a commemorative ceremony and together with the Deputy High Commissioner of New Zealand, Mr Rob Taylor, laid wreaths at the Australian War Memorial and New Zealand War Memorial.

Visit to the United Kingdom

On Wednesday 30 July 2014, in London, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Managing Director, Mr Adam Leishman, visited the Australian owned company Tower Transit.

Afterwards, at ANZ Bank Canary Wharf, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Head of Transactions Banking, Mr Peter Sargent, received a briefing on operations and viewed the trading floor.

Visit to the United Kingdom

On Tuesday 29 July 2014, in London, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of Alderman Peter Hewitt, visited the London Guildhall.

Afterwards, at the Honourable Artillery Company, the Governor-General attended a lunch hosted by the Chair of the City’s Social Development Board, Alderman Hewitt and received a briefing on the City of London's development fund and social enterprise projects.

Visit to Belgium and the United Kingdom

On Monday 28 July 2014, at Toronto Avenue Cemetery, Belgium, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove laid commemorative crosses inscribed with messages from Australian children on the graves of Australian soldiers.

Afterwards, in Comines-Warneton, as guest of the Mayor, Mr Gilbert Deleu, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove visited the Plug Street Interpretive Centre.

Later, in Ieper, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Curator, Mr Piet Chielens, visited the In Flanders Fields Museum.
