State Visit to the People’s Republic of China

At Renmin University, Beijing, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the Director of the Australian Studies Centre, Professor Zhang Yongxian, met with staff and students before delivering an address and participating in a discussion with students.

Later, in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, the Governor-General met with the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Li Keqiang.

State Visit to the People’s Republic of China

On Wednesday 16 October 2013, at Tianjin Arts Museum, China, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Director of the Tianjin Arts Museum, Mr Chen Zhuo and the Director of the Warburton Arts Project, Mr Gary Proctor, viewed and officially launched the Indigenous exhibition ‘Our Land, Our Body.’

Afterwards, at the Tianjin Municipal Government Guesthouse, Tianjin, the Governor-General met with the Mayor of Tianjin, Mr Huang Xingguo.

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce travelled by bullet train to Tianjin, China.

At the Tianjin Arts Museum, Their Excellencies, as guests of the Director, Mr Chen Zhuo, and the Director of the Warburton Arts Project, Mr Gary Proctor, viewed and officially launched the Indigenous exhibition ‘Our Land, Our Body.’

Afterwards, at the Tianjin Municipal Government Guesthouse, the Governor-General met with the Mayor of Tianjin, Mr Huang Xingguo.

Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia; State Visit to the People’s Republic of China

On Tuesday 15 October 2013, following the departure of the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO to undertake a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

Afterwards, at Beijing Capital International Airport, China, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a welcome ceremony to commence their State Visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Morning tea for Special Olympics Australia; Reception for Lifeline Australia

On Friday 11 October 2013, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Patron, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a morning tea to mark 50 days until the Inaugural Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games commence in Newcastle.

Afterwards, the Governor-General presented the annual Eunice Kennedy Shriver award to Ms Mel Eustace for outstanding leadership, sportsmanship and the embodiment for the Special Olympics Spirit.

Board meeting and morning tea for the Australian Centre for Child and Youth; Official opening of the new Translational Research Institute

On Thursday 10 October 2013, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO hosted a board meeting and morning tea for the Australian Centre for Child and Youth.

Afterwards, at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, the Governor-General met with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Coaldrake AO.

Combined Navies Parade; Reception for Social Ventures Australia

On Wednesday 9 October 2013, at Sydney Town Hall, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as Commander-in-Chief, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney, Ms Clover Moore and Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO CSC RAN, reviewed the Combined Navies parade as part of the Royal Australian Navy’s International Fleet Review.

In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, and Mr Bryce, hosted a reception for Social Ventures Australia.
