Community reception

On Sunday 3 November 2013, at Cable Beach, Broome, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception for representatives from local businesses, volunteer organisations, community groups, and residents of the Broome Shire.

Return of Writs

On Friday 1 November 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO received from the Australian Electoral Commission the Writs for the election of Members of the House of Representatives from Queensland.

Call by the Prime Minister

On Wednesday 30 October 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Kiribati, His Excellency the Honourable Anote Tong MP, by Brigadier Allan Murray CSM ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Visit to fire affected regions in New South Wales

On Friday 25 October 2013, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, accompanied by the NSW Rural Fire Service Emergency Management Coordinator, Superintendent Ben Millington, viewed the fire affected region between Richmond and Winmalee.

Afterwards, at the Winmalee Rural Fire Brigade, Blue Mountains, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a briefing by the Commissioner of the NSW Rural Fire Service, Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons AFSM, on the fire activity and later met with members of the NSW Rural Fire Service and volunteers.

Afterwards, in Winmalee, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Mayor of Blue Mountains City Council, Councillor Mark Greenhill, met with families affected by the fires.
