At Defence Establishment Fairbairn, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP, and Mrs Margaret Abbott, attended a ceremony to mark their departure from Canberra before returning to Brisbane.
In Brisbane, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were welcomed home by their children and grandchildren.

At Parliament House, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce attended a farewell reception hosted in their honour by the Prime Minister and Mrs Margaret Abbott.
On Monday 24 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.
On Friday 21 March 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Brisbane, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the State Funeral Service for the late Honourable Warwick Parer AM, by Brigadier Christopher Hamilton ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
On Tuesday 18 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received a call from the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Ma Zhaoxu, and Mrs Yu Xiaoming.
On Monday 17 March 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received from Her Excellency Ms Zanele Mdluli, Letters of Commission accrediting her as the High Commissioner for the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Afterwards, at Bridges House, Duntroon, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended an afternoon tea hosted in their honour by the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.
The Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for Members of the House of Representatives, at which the Governor-General received the Address-in-Reply from the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Bronwyn Bishop MP.
