On Monday 8 April 2013, at the Banco Court, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended a swearing-in ceremony for Mr Francois Kunc SC as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Afterwards, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator hosted a morning tea for participants of a home respite program for the intellectually handicapped.

Later, at Loreto Normanhurst School, Normanhurst, the Administrator officially opened the Gonzaga Barry Centre.

Governor-General unveils flagstone in commemoration of Australian September 11 victims

The Governor-General commemorated the ten Australians killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks when she unveiled an Australian Coat of Arms flagstone at the Queen Elizabeth II September 11 Garden in Hanover Square, New York.

Ms Bryce said the flagstone gave Australia and Australians a tangible link to the site of remembrance.

Reception to introduce Australia's candidate for the UNPFII

The Governor-General introduced Australia's candidate for the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), Professor Megan Davis, to UN Ambassadors at the Ambassador's Residence, New York.

Accompanied by the Australian Indigenous delegation, Ms Bryce welcomed the formal nomination of Professor Davis for re-election to the UNPFII and commended her work as a highly valued member of the Forum.

Professor Davis was elected for the term 2011-2013 and holds the portfolios of gender and women and administration of justice.

Dedication ceremony for St Leonard’s Catholic Church; 2013 Musica Viva Festival; Visit to the Canadian Ranger Base; Visit to Qikiqtani General Hospital

On Sunday 7 April 2013, at St Leonard’s Catholic Church, Naremburn, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended a dedication ceremony for the new peal of bells.

Afterwards, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Administrator attended the final performance of the 2013 Musica Viva Festival.

Governor-General and Australian Indigenous delegation meet Iqaluit Rangers

In Iqaluit, the Governor-General met local Canadian Rangers and Junior Rangers who provide patrols and detachments for deployment on national security and safety missions in remote areas of Canada.

Warrant Officer Kenneth Leet and Sergeant Dinos Tikivik welcomed Ms Bryce, Mr Michael Bryce and the Australian Indigenous delegation before inviting them to view traditional and contemporary equipment used by the Rangers in the performance of their daily roles.

Presentation of Scout Awards; Ingleburn Horticultural Society and Garden Club 2013 Garden Show; Roundtable discussion on Indigenous Economic Development; Community Reception

On Saturday 6 April 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, hosted a ceremony for Scouts Australia (NSW Branch), at which the Administrator presented the Queen’s Scout, Scout Medallion and Baden-Powell Awards.

Afterwards, at the Ingleburn Community Centre, Ingleburn, the Administrator formally opened and presented prizes at the Ingleburn Horticultural Society and Garden Club’s 2013 Garden Show.

Governor-General arrives in Iqaluit, Nunavut

Leading an Australian Indigenous delegation, the Governor-General arrived in Iqaluit, Nunavut, in northern Canada for a roundtable discussion and meeting with local Inuit representatives.

The town Mayor, His Worship Mr John Graham, welcomed Ms Bryce and the delegation before they attended the roundtable discussion on the issue of indigenous economic development at the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.

Governor-General and Australian Indigenous delegation attend community event in Iqaluit

The Governor-General, Mr Michael Bryce and the Australian Indigenous delegation attended an event hosted by the Premier of Nunavut, the Hon Eva Aariak, at the Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum.

Ms Bryce, Mr Bryce and the delegation received a traditional welcome, which included the lighting of Qulliqs and performances by throat singers.

Later, the Governor-General met guests attending the event, including Indigenous leaders and Iqaluit community representatives.

RSL ANZAC Art Awards; Crown Autumn Ladies Lunch; Concert at Margaretta College; Wreath laying ceremony; Lunch with women leaders; Tree planting at High Commission; Visit to Rideau High School; Reception for Global Pluralism

On Friday 5 April 2013, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, hosted the RSL ANZAC Art Awards.

Afterwards, at the Sydney Opera House, the Administrator attended the inaugural Crown Autumn Ladies Lunch.

Later, at Margaretta Cottage, Glebe, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas, as guests of Artistic Director, Dr Edwin David McIntosh AM, attended a concert by Australian pianist Ms Penelope Thwaites AM.

The Governor-General attends a wreath-laying ceremony at the Canadian National War Memorial

The Governor-General honoured the sacrifices of Canadian Defence personnel during a wreath-laying ceremony at National War Memorial.

Ms Bryce was met by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Ms Eve Adams MP, and escorted to the Tomb of the Unknown Solider to lay a wreath.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce met Canadian veterans attending the ceremony.
