Governor-General attends the Inauguration of the President of the Republic of Korea

The Governor-General represented Australia at the Inauguration of the President of the Republic of Korea, Her Excellency Park Geun-hye, at the National Assembly in Seoul.

Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce joined other world leaders and tens of thousands of citizens at the inauguration of the Republic of Korea's first female President.

Later, the Governor-General proposed a toast at a dinner in honour of President Park at the Blue House in Seoul.

Visit to United National Command and Demilitarised Zone; Seoul Embassy briefing

On Sunday 24 February 2013, at Freedom House, Camp Bonifas, Republic of Korea, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Deputy Chief of Staff for the United Nations and U.S. Forces Korea, Major General Brian Bishop, received a briefing on the Korean War and United National Command.

Afterwards, in the Joint Security Area, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce viewed Conference Row and attended a briefing at Building T2.

Governor-General visits the Demilitarised Zone in Panmunjom

The Governor-General visited the Demilitarised Zone in Panmunjom as the guest of the Deputy Senior Member of the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission and Deputy Chief of Staff of United Nations Command and United States Forces Korea, Major General Brian Bishop.

At Freedom House, Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce were briefed on the history and operations undertaken by the United Nations forces in the Joint Security Area before visiting Conference Room T2, which is situated along the Military Demarcation Line.

Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia; Visit to National Gallery of Australia; Reception for ‘Values and Visions of Australia’s Governors-General’ seminar

On Saturday 23 February 2013, following the departure of the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO to undertake an official visit to the Republic of Korea, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

Afterwards, at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the Administrator, as guest of the Head of Learning, Ms Katie Russell, viewed the Toulouse Lautrec exhibition.

Governor-General arrives in the Republic of Korea for Presidential Inauguration

The Governor-General arrived in Seoul, Republic of Korea, to represent Australia at the Inauguration of the President, Madame Park Geun-hye.

Ms Bryce, as Commander-in-Chief, will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and the sacrifices made by Australian Defence personnel between 1950 and 1953.

Governor-General attends Royal Canberra Show

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce continued to mark the Centenary of Canberra celebrations at the Royal Canberra Show.

Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce were welcomed to the Show by the President of the Royal National Capital Agricultural Society, Mr Rod Crompton, before presenting sashes to equestrian event winners.

The Governor-General and Mr Bryce were escorted through the Show pavilions before Ms Bryce officially opened the horticulture and produce mural.

Australian Academy of Science

On Thursday 21 February 2013, at the Australian Academy of Science, Acton, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the President of the Australian Academy of Science, Professor Suzanne Cory AC, officially launched the publication ‘Negotiating our future: Living scenarios for Australia to 2050.’

Earlier, at the Australian National Botanical Gardens, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, addressed a gathering of the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

Governor-General launches Negotiating Our Future: Living Scenarios for Australia to 2050

A new publication that addresses issues of environmental sustainability and social equity in Australia was launched by the Governor-General at the Shine Dome, Australian Academy of Science in Acton.

The publication, Negotiating Our Future: Living Scenarios for Australia to 2050, was inspired by the results of a 2011 workshop involving Australian scientists and Academy Fellows.
