Jordan National Commission for Women; Ceremonial Welcome; His Majesty King Abdullah II and Queen Rania; Za’atri Refugee Camp; State Dinner

On Sunday 2 September 2012, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Amman, Jordan, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO met with members of the Jordan National Commission for Women.

Afterwards, at Al Hummar Palace, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a Ceremonial Welcome hosted in their honour by the Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with King Abdullah II and Queen Rania.

Ceremonial Welcome and audience with Their Majesties

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce were formally welcomed to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by Their Majesties King Abdullah II Al-Hussein and Queen Rania during a ceremony at Al-Hummar Palace, Amman.

Ms Bryce was invited by King Abdullah II to inspect the Royal Guard of Honour before joining Mr Bryce and Queen Rania for a formal audience with Their Majesties.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a State Dinner hosted by Their Majesties at Basman Palace.

Governor-General begins State Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, at the invitation of Their Majesties King Abdullah II Al-Hussein and Queen Rania, began a State Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce were welcomed by the Minister in Attendance at Queen Alia International Airport and were escorted along a military Guard of Honour.

The Governor-General and Mr Bryce were introduced to Jordanian officials and representatives from the Australian Embassy before departing the airport.

London Paralympics

On Friday 31 August 2012, at the Copper Box, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Acting President of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Mr Nick Dean and Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mrs Joyce Parszos, attended the Women’s Goalball.

Afterwards, at the Excel Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mr John Croll and Mrs Susie Croll, attended the Women’s Table Tennis.

Federal Executive Council; Wattle Day; London Paralympics

On Thursday 30 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Administrator received the Vice-President and Founder of the Wattle Day Association, Mr Jack Fahy, and the Treasurer of the Wattle Day Association, Ms Judy Tunningley, and later accepted a basket of wattle from students of Burgmann Anglican School in recognition of Wattle Day.
