Governor-General meets Permanent Representatives to the United Nations

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce welcomed ten Permanent Representatives to the United Nations to Government House, Canberra.

Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce hosted an afternoon tea for the delegation, which has been engaged in meetings across Australia.

The afternoon tea was also attended by Canberra-based Heads of Mission, as well as United Nations and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade representatives.

Federal Executive Council; National Library of Australia

On Thursday 2 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner-designate to Brunei Darussalam, Mr Todd Mercer.

Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, His Excellency Mr Alexios Christopoulos.

Governor-General officially launches "The Forgotten Holocaust: A Gypsy’s Journey from Auschwitz to Freedom"

The Governor-General launched the book The Forgotten Holocaust: A Gypsy’s Journey from Auschwitz to Freedom at the National Library of Australia, Canberra.

Written by Ms Caroline Cooper MVO, the book is a fictional story about an English Gypsy who survives internment in a Polish concentration camp and migrates to Australia.

Ms Bryce congratulated Ms Cooper on her achievement, describing it as a labour of love, dedication and determination.

Migration Council Australia

On Wednesday 1 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a reception to mark the launch of the Migration Council of Australia.

Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Group Captain Brian Duddington AM ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

Governor-General marks the launch of Migration Council Australia

The Governor-General hosted an event at Government House in Canberra to mark the launch of Migration Council Australia, an independent not-for-profit organisation that aims to enhance Australia’s migration and humanitarian programs.

Ms Bryce was joined at the event by members of the MCA Board and representatives from other migration and community organisations.

On Tuesday 31 July 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr Lex Bartlem OAM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Chief of the Defence Force, General David Hurley AC DSC.

Leap Frog Ability; Breast and Endocrine Centre

On Friday 27 July 2012, at Leap Frog Ability, Islington, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Chair, Mr Scott Pfeiffer, met with staff and clients.

Afterwards, at the Lake Macquarie Specialist Medical Centre, Gateshead, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director of the Breast and Endocrine Centre, Dr David Clark, officially opened the Breast and Endocrine Centre.

Credentials; Social Ventures Australia

On Thursday 26 July 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received from His Excellency Mr Reha Keskintepe, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Sibel Müderrisoğlu (First Counsellor), Mr Taylan Özgür Aydin (Second Secretary) and Colonel Sadik Cebeci (Military Attaché).
