On Friday 31 August 2012, at the Copper Box, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Acting President of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Mr Nick Dean and Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mrs Joyce Parszos, attended the Women’s Goalball.

Afterwards, at the Excel Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian Paralympic Committee Board Member, Mr John Croll and Mrs Susie Croll, attended the Women’s Table Tennis.

On Day 2 of the London Paralympics, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce supported Australia’s elite athletes competing in five events across the city.

The Governor-General and Mr Bryce watched the Australian Goalball team compete against Japan at the Copper Box before watching Table Tennis player Melissa Tapper compete against Chinese opponent Lei Fan.

On Thursday 30 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Administrator received the Vice-President and Founder of the Wattle Day Association, Mr Jack Fahy, and the Treasurer of the Wattle Day Association, Ms Judy Tunningley, and later accepted a basket of wattle from students of Burgmann Anglican School in recognition of Wattle Day.

At Government House, the Administrator, Professor Marie Bashir, AC CVO, received a basket of wattle from students at Canberra's Burgmann Anglican Junior School to mark Wattle Day on September the 1st.

On Day 1 of the London Paralympics, the Governor-General shared a special moment with Australian cyclists Susan Powell and Alexandra Green as she presented them with Gold and Bronze Medals for the Women's Cycling C4 Pursuit.

The Governor-General also cheered on Kieran Modra who broke a world record in the Men’s Individual Pursuit and was awarded a Gold Medal.

On Wednesday 29 August 2012, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, hosted a reception for the Sydney Women’s Consular Club.

Afterwards, at the Rag Factory, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Agent-General for Queensland, Mr Ken Smith, attended the Spare Parts exhibition by Priscilla Sutton.

On Tuesday 28 August 2012, at Parliament House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as guest of the Chair of the Shepherd Centre, Mr Michael Shepherd, attended the Australian Father of the Year Lunch.

Afterwards, at the Paralympic Village, London, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the President of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Mr Greg Hartung OAM and Mrs Maureen Hartung, viewed the Paralympic Village and attended a lunch with Australian athletes.

The Governor-General praised the extraordinary support given to Australian Paralympians during a reception for family, friends and supporters in London.

Addressing guests at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, Ms Bryce described the Games as empowering for the athletes and “a source of courage and inspiration” for all Australians.

On the eve of the London Paralympic Games, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC), and Mr Michael Bryce met and subsequently led members of the Australian team for the Welcome and Flag Raising Ceremony at the Paralympic Village.

Mr Greg Hartung OAM, President of the APC, welcomed Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce to the Village before escorting them through the Australian team’s offices and health facilities.

Later, the Governor-General joined Australian athletes and team staff for lunch at the Village Dining Hall.
