Sandakan Death Marches Memorial unveiling and reception

On Friday 27 August 2010, at Commemorative Park, Lismore, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General unveiled the Sandakan Death Marches Memorial.

Afterwards, at St Andrew’s Anglican Church, Lismore, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of Lismore City Council, Councillor Jenny Dowell, attended a reception for the Sandakan Death Marches Memorial unveiling.

Wattle Day

On Wednesday 25 August 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the President of the Wattle Day Association, Mr Terry Fewtrell; Vice President, Mr Jack Fahy; and Committee Member, Ms Christine Lancaster; and later accepted a basket of wattle from students of St Francis of Assisi Primary School in recognition of the centenary of Wattle Day.

On Tuesday 24 August 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a morning tea at which the Governor-General launched Group Training Australia's 2010 ‘Today's Skills: Tomorrow's Leaders’ program.

Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Peru, Mr John Woods.

On Monday 23 August 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Indonesia, Mr Greg Moriarty.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an afternoon tea for Gowrie Australia to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Lady Gowrie Centres in Australia.

Presentation of the Number 1 Airfield Operations Support Squadron Standard and the Governor-General's Banner to 27 Squadron

On Sunday 22 August 2010, at RAAF Townsville, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a parade at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, presented the Number 1 Airfield Operations Support Squadron Standard and the Governor-General’s Banner to 27 Squadron.

Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards Ceremony; Hans Heysen exhibition

On Friday 20 August 2010, at Customs House, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards Ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Patron, launched Book Week 2010 and presented the Book of the Year awards.

In the afternoon, at the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Curator of Australian Art, Ms Angela Goddard, viewed the Hans Heysen exhibition.

On Wednesday 18 August 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Mr Lenin Magigwane Shope.

Afterwards, at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day Service, at which the Governor-General delivered the first reading and laid a wreath.
