On Tuesday 2 November 2010, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chairman and Committee of the Victorian Racing Club, attended the running of the 2010 Emirates Melbourne Cup, at which the Governor-General presented the Emirates Melbourne Cup to the winning owner.

On Monday 1 November 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic, His Excellency Mr Tammam Sulaiman.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from the Kylie Smith Global Foundation, Mr James Wolfensohn AO.

Later, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted an afternoon tea to launch ‘More than a Game: Canberra’s Sporting Heritage 1854-1954’ by Mr Don Selth LVO.

On Friday 29 October 2010, at the Melbourne Convention Centre, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC officially opened and presented the awards for excellence at the 2010 Pharmacy Australia Congress.

In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Nauru, Mr Bruce Cowled.

In the evening, the Governor-General, in recognition of Children’s Week, hosted a reception for ACT Children’s Week Award recipients.

On Thursday 28 October 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Pedro Monzon Barata, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Reinaldo Lázaro García Perera (Consul-General). The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Celia Oliva Velazco.

On Wednesday 27 October 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Federation Concert Hall, Hobart, the Governor-General was represented at the State Funeral Service for the late the Honourable Ken Wriedt by Colonel Stephen Carey ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Tuesday 26 October 2010, at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the President, Mr Graham Bradley AM, delivered the keynote address at the Business Council of Australia 2010 Annual Dinner.

On Monday 25 October 2010, at Government House, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron of the RAAF Association (ACT Division), received the Former Patron, Air Marshal David Evans AC DSO AFC, and President, Air Commodore Peter McDermott AM CSC.

On Sunday 24 October 2010, at St Peter Chanel’s Catholic Church, Yarralumla, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron, attended the St Johns Ambulance Australia (ACT) Annual Service of Rededication.

On Saturday 23 October 2010, at the Australian National Korean War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a National Commemoration Service marking the 60th anniversary of the commencement of the Korean War, at which the Governor-General laid a wreath.

In the afternoon, at Viking Park, Wanniassa, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the final of the 2010 Pacific Nations Military Cup at which the Governor-General presented the Cup to the winning team’s captain.

On Friday 22 October 2010, at the Newcastle Museum, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor John Tate, attended a reception at which the Governor-General unveiled ‘the Buck’.

Afterwards, at Merewether, Newcastle, the Governor-General officially opened Anglican Care’s new residential aged care facility ‘Anglican Care Scenic Lodge Merewether’.

Later, at the Belmont Hospital, the Governor-General officially opened East Lake Macquarie Dementia Service’s new respite facility.
