On Sunday 2 March 2008, former Governor-General, the Right Reverend Dr Peter Hollingworth, AC, OBE and Mrs Ann Hollingworth arrived at Government House, Canberra, and remained overnight as houseguests of Their Excellencies, the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery.

On Sunday 2 March 2008, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a breakfast for patrons, sponsors and supporters of The Smith Family, at which Mrs Jeffery delivered the address. Afterwards the grounds of Government House were open to members of the public to attend The Smith Family Fundraising Open Day.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended a luncheon for former members of B Company.

On Tuesday 26 February 2008, at Government House, Canberra, His Excellency the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC, received from His Excellency Mr Juraj Chmiel, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Czech Republic. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Daniela Mustillova (Deputy Head of Mission) and Mr Jiri Janicek (Consul), Embassy of the Czech Republic.
