Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr AM
Seven-time CrossFit Games champion Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr AM says receiving the news of her recognition was a humbling experience.
As well as her titles, Tia-Clair has earned the title of Fittest Woman on Earth more times than anyone else, and has represented Australia in both the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, where she won gold in weightlifting at the Gold Coast. She also qualified in Bobsleigh in 2022 Winter Olympics.
Tia-Clair has written two books, ‘How I Became the Fittest Woman on Earth’ and ‘The Heart is the Strongest Muscle’, and is also owner of PRVN Fitness.
She was appointed a Member of the Order for service to crossfit and weightlifting.
“My journey started in a small town, and through hard work and perseverance, I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve some amazing milestones,” she says.
“I train because I love the process, the discipline, and pushing myself, but when others recognise that [with this recognition], it means a lot.
“It’s a reminder that the work isn’t just personal, it can inspire and uplift others too. I always feel grateful, and it gives me a chance to reflect on the people who have supported me along the way.”
It is for these reasons too that she remains motivated, Tia-Clair explains.
“I’m motivated by the challenge … and I’m also deeply motivated by the opportunity to inspire others, especially young women, to chase their goals with intensity and confidence.
“Recognition gives meaning to the effort. It validates the sacrifice, the hard days, the silent battles that often go unnoticed.
“But more importantly, it shows others what’s possible. When we highlight people doing extraordinary things, it lights a spark for the next generations.
“I’ve been inspired by others throughout my journey, and if I can be that for someone else, that is incredibly meaningful.”
