- Governor-General presents 2012 General Sir John Monash Foundation scholarships
The Governor-General, as Patron of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, presented scholarships to nine 2012 recipients at The Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne.
The recipients were selected on their demonstrated and potential leadership contribution to their fields of study.

On Tuesday 14 February 2012, at Albert Park, Melbourne the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the founder of the Lighthouse Foundation, Ms Susan Barton AM, attended the Foundation’s Annual Valentine’s Day Lunch for Women, at which the Governor-General gave an address.

The Governor-General was presented with the University of Newcastle Family Action Centre and The Wollotuka Institute’s Award for Contribution to the Australian Community at Admiralty House, Sydney.
The award is in recognition of Ms Bryce’s long term involvement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

On Monday 13 February 2012, at Admiralty House, Sydney the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received the prefects of Bankstown Girls High School for morning tea.

On Friday 10 February 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO received a farewell call from the High Commissioner for India, Her Excellency Mrs Sujatha Singh.
On Thursday 9 February 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Later, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, received the Chair of the Public Education Foundation, Ms Jenni Neary and Chief Executive, Ms Verity Firth.
On Wednesday 8 February 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received the author of ‘Acquisition! The Story of Orroral Valley Space Tracking Station’, Mr Philip Clark.
The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce visited the flood-affected town of Moree in North-West NSW.
Ms Bryce was briefed by emergency services personnel and Moree Plains Shire Council staff on the clean-up effort taking place across the town after homes and businesses were inundated on February 3.
As part of their visit to flood-affected New South Wales, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce travelled to Wee Waa, where over 2000 residents were stranded by flood waters.

On Monday 6 February 2012, at Government House, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, hosted a dinner for Senators and Members of the House of Representatives.
On Saturday 4 February 2012 at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Sprent Dabwido MP, by Commander Paul Doble ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
Mr Michael Bryce, as Patron of the Cancer Council ACT, marked World Cancer Day by thanking staff and supporters of the organisation at an event at Government House, Canberra.

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce visited researchers and staff at the Children’s Medical Research Institute in Westmead, Sydney.
Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce were escorted through the Institute’s research facility, which focuses on embryonic development, cancer, nerve cell signalling and gene therapy research.
