Message from the Governor-General

In September 2023, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley again welcomed recent Order of Australia recipients to Government House in Canberra for their Investiture Ceremony. Nine ceremonies were held across a very busy week.

"Linda and I hope that these ceremonies are a joyous, memorable and uplifting experience for all those who attend.”

“The people we celebrate come from a diverse range of backgrounds and have served Australia in many different ways. They all, though, share a common characteristic: they have had a positive impact on the lives of those around them and thereby enriched our community.”

“On behalf of all Australians, I thank all of our recipients across the country for their outstanding, selfless contribution to our nation. To each recipient: congratulations and treasure the knowledge that your nation values your service.”

Similar investiture ceremonies have been held at state Government Houses and in the Northern Territory as a celebration of recent Order of Australia recipients.

It is important to make time to recognise and celebrate achievement and service in the community. Please consider nominating someone who you think has made a significant impact at the local, national or international level for recognition through the Order of Australia.
