Australian Command and Staff College Graduation; Credentials; Reception for Australian Defence Force Academy Graduands, Royal Military College Cadets and the Spitfire Association

On Monday 9 December 2013, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Australian Command and Staff College Graduation Ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, addressed the audience and presented the Governor-General’s prize.

Afterwards, at Government House, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Andris Teikmanis, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Inguna Penike.

Visit to Canberra Hospital; Visit to Lifeline Bookfair Warehouse

On Thursday 5 December 2013, at the Canberra Hospital, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of Geriatrician, Dr Ramila Varendran, visited the acute care for the elderly unit and met with staff, patients and volunteers.

Afterwards, at the Lifeline Bookfair Warehouse, Mitchell, the Governor-General, in recognition of International Volunteer Day, met with Lifeline volunteers.

Later, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner designate to Malaysia, Mr Rod Smith PSM.

Morning tea to mark the 70th anniversary of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s visit to Canberra in 1943

At the Embassy of the United States of America, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce, as guests of the Ambassador, His Excellency Mr John Berry and Mr Curtis Yee, attended a morning tea to mark the 70th anniversary of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt’s visit to Canberra in 1943, at which the Governor-General planted a red box gum.

On Tuesday 3 December 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, received from His Excellency Mr Shmuel Ben-Shmuel, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of Israel. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Meir Itzchaki (Deputy Head of Mission), Ms Dorit Herscovici (First Secretary), and Ms Anat Ben-Shitrit (Counsellor).
