On Tuesday 30 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Ms Nicola Gordon-Smith, Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Later, the Governor-General received Ms Karyn Murray, High Commissioner-designate to Tuvalu, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a farewell lunch in honour of His Excellency Mr Chris Seed, the outgoing High Commissioner for New Zealand.

Monday 29 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited Barker College for the official opening of the Preparatory School Facilities, as guests of Mr Phillip Heath AM, Principal, Barker College.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, attended a Thanksgiving and Military Funeral Service for the life of Major General Gordon Maitland AO BOE RFD ED (Retd), at The Parish Church of Saint James, Sydney.

On Sunday 28 October 2018, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), was represented at the departure from Australia of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, by Mr Paul Singer MVO, Acting Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

On Saturday 27 October 2018, at Fleet Base East, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended the Commissioning Ceremony for HMAS Brisbane (III), as guests of Rear Admiral Jonathan Mead AM RAN, Commander Australian Fleet. There, the Governor-General reviewed the parade before the ship’s company officially manned HMAS Brisbane for the first time.

On Friday October 2018, at the Quaycentre, Sydney Olympic Park, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the wheelchair basketball, as guests of Dr Janine Kirk AM, Board Director, Invictus Games Sydney 2018.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies viewed the archery finals at the Hockey Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, as guests of Dr Kirk.

On Thursday 25 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Trinity Grammar Junior School, VIC; St Carthage’s Primary School, NSW; Our Lady Help of Christians Primary School, NSW; and St Catherine’s School, SA, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

On Wednesday 24 October 2018, at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Letters of Credence from His Excellency El Hacen Eleyatt accrediting him as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome home reception for the 2018 Australian Rowing Team, who recently competed in the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.

On Tuesday 23 October 2018, in Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied the Crown Prince of Denmark, His Royal Highness Prince Frederik, to Sydney Olympic Park to watch the Invictus Games.

Afterwards, at the Aquatic Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, Their Excellencies attended the swimming heats, as guests of Mr James Brown, Board Director, Invictus Games.

On Monday 22 October 2018, at Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, watched the indoor rowing competition, and presented medals for the women’s indoor rowing four-minute endurance event. The Governor-General presented the silver medal to Ms Tiff White, and Lady Cosgrove presented the bronze medal to Ms Sarah Petchell, with both athletes representing Australia.

On Sunday 21 October 2018, at Royal Botanical Gardens, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Ambassador of the Invictus Games, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the cycling time trials, as guests of Ms Renee Wilson, Board Director, Invictus Games.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies met with the President of the Republic of Estonia, Her Excellency, Ms Kersti Kaljulaid and watched the Hansa dinghy sailing competition.
