On Sunday 10 September 2017, at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, Kirribilli, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commodore-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Vice Commodore, Mr David Ward and Mrs Jane Dunwoodie, attended the annual Sailing Season Opening Day, at which the Governor-General fired the ceremonial gun salutes to officially open the 2017-2018 season.

On Friday 8 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted Investiture Ceremonies.

On Thursday 7 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, at Calvary Clare Holland House, Barton, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, presided over an Investiture Ceremony at which he invested Mrs Constance Johnson OAM, with the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division, ‘for service to people with breast cancer’.

Canberra, ACT

On Wednesday 6 September 2017, at Radio 1RPH, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the President, Ms Lorraine Litster, broadcast content for print handicap listeners in the Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Junee areas.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Canberra, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, attended a morning tea for Girl Guides Australia.

Canberra, ACT; Brisbane, QLD

On Tuesday 5 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) launched the Youth Off The Streets semi-trailer, which will support disadvantaged young people in remote and regional communities.

Afterwards, at Sofitel Brisbane Central Hotel, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, opened the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners’ 12th National Conference.

Later, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General participated in a video call from Kelmscott Senior High School, WA.

On Monday 4 September 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) met with students from St Joseph’s Primary School, QLD; and All Souls St Gabriel School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Brisbane, QLD; Surfers Paradise, QLD

On Sunday 3 September 2017, at Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, Willawong, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Senior Elder, Reverend Tauaaga Mataafa, addressed the congregation and presented a photo of the Former Head of State of the Independent State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Her Highness Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese from a recent visit to the Independent State of Samoa.

Birdsville, QLD

On Saturday 2 September 2017, at Birdsville Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed by Board Member of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Honourable Bruce Scott, and Mrs Joan Scott; and the Mayor of the Diamantina Shire Council, Councillor Geoff Morton, and Mrs Beverley Morton.

Afterwards, at the Birdsville Hotel, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Mr Ben Fullagar, viewed the facilities and met with staff and patrons.

Bourke, NSW

On Friday 1 September 2017, at Bourke Airport, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed by the Mayor of the Bourke Shire Council, Councillor Barry Hollman.

Afterwards, at Bourke District Hospital, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive, Western NSW Local Health District, Mr Scott McLachlan, viewed the facilities and met with staff and patients.

Canberra, ACT

On Thursday 31 August 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove hosted an afternoon tea to launch the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) National Child Protection Week 2017.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Hawthorndene Primary School, SA; John Calvin School, WA; Curramulka Public School, SA; and St Peters Lutheran College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
