On Monday 8 October 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, travelled to Melbourne. As guests of Professor Margaret Gardner AO, President and Vice-Chancellor, Monash University, Their Excellencies open the new Learning and Teaching Building, at the university’s Clayton campus.

On Sunday 7 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Paolina Hunt, CEO, Netball Australia, attended the first game of the Constellation Cup Netball Test between the Australian Diamonds and the New Zealand Silver Ferns.

On Saturday 6 October at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, meet with some of the 7,500 visitors at Government House Open Day.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Christopher Latham, Director, The Flowers of War, attend the musical performance of the Diggers’ Requiem, at Llewellyn Hall, Canberra.

On Friday 5 October 2018 at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a reception for the Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue.

On Wednesday 3 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the Clontarf Foundation headquarters, as guests of Mr Ross Kelly AM, Chairman, and met with the program’s alumni, in Bentley.

On Tuesday 2 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited Headspace and met with staff at their headquarters, in Obsorne Park, as guests of Ms Julie Carr, Deputy Chair of Black Swan Health.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies visited ‘Grow’ – a community driven charity specialising in mental health support services – as guests of Ms Nila Cecconi, Branch Manager, in Wembley.

On Monday 1 October 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with staff and students at the University of Notre Dame’s Broome campus, as guests of Ms Sarah Cordiner, Head of Campus.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies met with organisers and members of ‘Kimberley Girl’, and viewed operations at Goolarri Media, as guests of Ms Kira Fong, Chief Operations Officer.

On Sunday 30 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited the ship’s company of HMAS Ararat, as guests of Lieutenant Commander Khan Beaumont RAN, at Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies viewed wildlife at the Margaret Knoll lookout and attended a community sports day and sausage sizzle at the Christmas Island Cricket and Sporting Club as guests of Her Honour Mrs Natasha Griggs, Administrator, Australian Indian Ocean Territories.

On Saturday 29 September 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, were welcomed to Christmas Island by Her Honour Mrs Natasha Griggs, Administrator of the Australian Indian Ocean Territories, at Christmas Island Airport. There, the Governor-General assisted in the unveiling of the plaque renaming the airport to the Gordon Bennett Airport.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies attended a dinner with community and business leaders at the Administrator’s residence.

On Friday 28 September 2018, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Then, the Governor-General received the interim report of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, from the Commissioner, the Honourable Kenneth Hayne AC QC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Lebanese Republic for a pre-posting call.
