On Tuesday 7 November 2017, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman of the Victorian Racing Club, Mrs Amanda Elliot, attended the Melbourne Cup Day at which the Governor-General presented the 2017 Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy to the owner of the winning horse, Rekindling, Mr Lloyd Williams, who received the trophy on behalf of the winning connections.

On Monday 6 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, received the National President, United Nations Association of Australia, Major General Mike Smith AO (Retd).

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, at which the Governor-General, as Patron, presented the 2017 Churchill Fellowship Awards to ACT recipients.

On Saturday 5 November 2017, at Auburn Gallipoli Mosque, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guests of Dr Abdurrahman Asaroglu, met with staff, volunteeres and attendees of the Mosque’s Open Day.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented for the departure from Australia of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender, by Honorary Aide-de-Camp Group Captain Karon Millett ADC.

On Saturday 4 November 2017, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms Lynne Wood.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Mrs Elke Büdenbender.

On Friday 3 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with students from St Agnes’ Primary School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.

Afterwards, as Patron, Lady Cosgrove visited Karinya House and met with staff and volunteers.

On Thursday 2 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Acting First Assistant Secretary, Middle East and Africa Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Matthew Neuhaus.

On Wednesday 1 November 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Acting First Assistant Secretary, Europe Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Kevin Magee.

On Tuesday 31 October 2017, at Parliament House, Darwin, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the Oath of Office to the Administrator of the Northern Territory, Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, the Honourable Michael Gunner MLA, attended a reception.

On Monday 30 October 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Mr Stephen Brady AO CVO.

In the evening, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, hosted a reception for the Partners of Veteran’s Association.

Afterwards, in Darwin, the Governor-General hosted a dinner with the Administrator of the Northern Territory, His Honour the Honourable John Hardy AO, and Mrs Marie Hardy.

On Friday 27 October 2017, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), hosted a swearing-in ceremony to issue the Instrument of Appointment and the Oath of Office to the Prime Minister of Australia, Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a swearing-in ceremony to issue the Instrument of Appointment and the Oath of Office to the Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Senator the Honourable Matthew Canavan.
