On Wednesday 28 February 2018, at Zurich Airport, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, were farewelled from the Swiss Confederation by the Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Her Excellency Ms Lynette Wood.
In the evening, at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the United Arab Emirates by the Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mr Arthur Spyrou and Mrs Britt Spyrou.
On Tuesday 27 February 2018, at St Martin’s Cemetery, Vevey, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Director External Relations, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Ms Liz Sweet, participated in a Commemorative Service, viewed Australian War Graves and laid a wreath.
In the afternoon, at the Swiss Federal Assembly, Bern, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the President of the Swiss Confederation, His Excellency Mr Alain Berset.
On Monday 26 February 2018, at Palais de Nations, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director-General of the United Nations Office Geneva, Mr Micahel Møller, delivered Australia’s National Statement to the High-Level Segment of the 37th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Afterwards, the Governor-General met with the United Nations Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr António Guterres.
