On Monday 18 April 2016, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Second Session of the Forty-Fourth Commonwealth Parliament, at which the Governor-General opened the session and addressed the Parliament.

On Sunday 17 April 2016, at the Sydney Opera House, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, attended the International Festival of Language and Culture, at which the Governor-General officially opened the Festival.

On Saturday 16 April 2016, in Hornsby, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) visited Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP.

On Friday 15 April 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted investiture ceremonies.

On Thursday 14 April 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of Nepal, His Excellency Mr Rudra Kumar Nepal.

Later, the Governor-General received Homes for Heroes Himalayan Expedition participants Sergeant Adam Bent, Corporal Mitchell Haig, Trooper Michael Pengilley and Trooper Chris Pengilley.

On Wednesday 13 April 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Dr Hussain Al-Ameri, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Mohammed Alaubidy (First Secretary), Mr Ammar Fadhil (Second Secretary) and Ms Rasha Albasri (Manager Administration).

On Tuesday 12 April 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the Director-General, National Archives, Mr David Fricker and Assistant Director-General, Ms Louise Doyle.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

On Sunday 10 April 2016, at Mary Mackillop Aged Care Centre, Hawthorn East, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the CEO, Ms Camille Barker, visited the Centre and met with staff, volunteers and residents during morning tea.

On Saturday 9 April 2016, at The Langham, Southbank, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, received the Vice-President, Mrs Julie Anderson and Secretary, Ms Natasha Norton, of the Australian Womensport and Recreation Association.

Afterwards, at Etihad Stadium, Docklands, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Richmond Football Club, Ms Peggy O'Neal, attended the President's Luncheon for the Richmond Tigers versus Adelaide Crows match.
