Morning tea for Legacy Club of Canberra widows

On Wednesday 12 November 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for Legacy Club of Canberra widows.

Earlier, at Brisbane Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Mr Jacob Zuma, by Mr Stephen Murtagh, Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

Remembrance Day National Ceremony; Afternoon tea for Families of the Fallen

On Tuesday 11 November 2014, at the Australian War Memorial, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman of the Australian War Memorial Council, Rear Admiral Ken Doolan AO RAN (Retd), attended the Remembrance Day National Ceremony.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an afternoon tea for Families of the Fallen.

Swearing-in of the Administrator of the Northern Territory; Arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Palau

On Monday 10 November 2014, at Government House, Darwin, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General administered the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office of the Administrator of the Northern Territory to His Honour Mr John Hardy OAM.

Visit to Cocos (Keeling) Islands

On Sunday 9 November 2014, on West Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a commemorative service in recognition of the centenary of the Sydney-Emden Battle, at which the Governor-General officially unveiled the Sydney-Emden Friendship Mast and Memorial in the presence of families and friends of the decendants of the crews of HMAS Sydney and SMS Emden.

Visit to Cocos (Keeling) Islands

On Saturday 8 November 2014, on Direction Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Shire President of Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Mr Aindil Minkom, attended a community event at which the Governor-General officially opened the Cocos (Keeling) Islands Shire Sydney-Emden Gazebo and Direction Island Interpretative Trails, in the presence of families and friends of the descendants of the crews of HMAS Sydney and SMS Emden.

Visit to Port Hedland; Visit to Cocos (Keeling) Islands

On Friday 7 November 2014, at the Port Hedland Yacht Club, Western Australia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Val Middleton, attended a breakfast with members of the Port Hedland RSL Sub branch.

Afterwards, at Nelson Point, Port Hedland, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with staff of BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Nelson Point Facility and viewed operations.

Call by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Visit to Port Hedland

On Thursday 6 November 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of Lions Australia, received past President of the International Lions Club, Mr Barry Palmer AM, and Mr Gary Parker.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, His Excellency Mr Mark Rutte.
