Visit to the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital; Call by the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament; Dinner

On Wednesday 24 September 2014, at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, Melbourne, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Office of Austin Health, Dr Brendan Murphy, and Mr Mark Johnston, received a presentation on the art therapy program and the concept for the Australian Veterans Arts Museum.

Royal Humane Society of Australasia investiture; Visit to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre; investiture ceremony; Ian Potter Foundation dinner

On Tuesday 23 September 2014, at Melbourne City Town Hall, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Senior Patron of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General presented the Clarke Silver Medal to Victorian Police Officer, Sergeant Daniel Burgess.

At Melbourne City Town Hall, VIC, the Governor-General, as Senior Patron of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia, and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General presented The Clarke Medal, for the most outstanding act of bravery, to Victorian Police Officer, Sergeant Daniel Burgess, who went to the rescue of a fisherman who had been washed off rocks and into the sea near Pyramid Rock, Phillip Island, on 14 January 2012.

Investiture Ceremony for the Force Communications Unit – Cambodia; Murdoch Children’s Research Institute Reception

On Monday 22 September 2014, at Simpson Barracks, Watsonia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended an investiture ceremony for the Force Communications Unit - Cambodia, at which the Governor-General presented the Meritorious Unit Citation to the Defence Force School of Signals.

Afterwards, at The Langham, Melbourne, the Governor-General received Long Tan veteran, Mr David Sabben MG.

At Simpson Barracks, Melbourne, VIC, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation to members of the Force Communications Unit deployed as Australia's main contribution to the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC), under Operation GEMINI between March 1992 and October 1993 (Photo credit: ABIS Cassie McBride/Commonwealth of Australia, Department of Defence).

International Force for East Timor Conference; Dinner with Victorian Vice-Chancellors

On Saturday 20 September 2014, at the RACV Club, Melbourne, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the President of Military History and Heritage Victoria Inc., Colonel Marcus Fielding (Retd), attended the International Force for East Timor Conference at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, received the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Mr Xanana Gusmão, and Her Excellency Mrs Kirsty Sword Gusmão.

Citizenship Ceremony; 23rd International Association for Volunteer Effort dinner

On Wednesday 17 September 2014, at Albert Hall, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as the Presiding Officer, and Lady Cosgrove, attended a Citizenship Ceremony in recognition of Australian Citizenship Day.

Afterwards, at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the International Association for Volunteer Effort, Dr Lee Kang Hyun, attended the 23rd International Association for Volunteer Effort as part of the World Volunteer Conference.
