On Wednesday 27 August 2014, at Government House, Hobart, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Lieutenant-Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Justice Alan Blow OAM and Mrs Margaret Blow.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Hobart, the Governor-General met with the Premier of Tasmania, the Honourable Will Hodgman MP.

At the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General opened the exhibition ‘The Great War 1914-18: Sacrifice and Shadows’, in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the commencement of World War I.

On Tuesday 26 August 2014, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the First Voice ‘Power of Speech’ Ceremony, in recognition of Hearing Awareness Week.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the Chairman of the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust, Vice Admiral Russ Shalders AO CSC RAN (Retd).

At Parliament House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a First Voice Power of Speech event, held during Hearing Awareness Week, at which the Governor-General presented awards to 12 participants, aged six to 11, who are some of the beneficiaries of First Voice, an alliance of six world-leading centres across Australia and New Zealand that provide support for children with hearing loss.

On Monday 25 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the Secretary-General of the Global Foundation, Mr Steve Howard; the Deputy Chairman, Mr Graeme Liebelt; and the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Adie Dawes-Birch.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Vice President of the Duntroon Society, Major General Paul Stephens (Retd); the Director, Lieutenant Colonel John Bullen (Retd); and Member of the Duntroon Society Council, Brigadier Peter Evans (Retd).

On Friday 22 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received the Chair of the Council of the Order of Australia, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston AC AFC (Retd).

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Campaign Director of RECOGNISE, Reconciliation Australia, Mr Tim Gartrell, and the Deputy Campaign Director, Ms Tanya Hosch.

On Thursday 21 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr Mark Sawers.

The Governor-General, as Patron and as a guest of Group Training Australia Chairman, Mr John Ackland, and Deputy Chair, Mr Michael Bennett, met with participants in the 2014 "Today's Skills: Tomorrow's Leaders” program, at the Australian Institute of Sport, Bruce, ACT.

On Wednesday 20 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Mr Bakir Sadović, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dinko Tomac (Counselor). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Merdijana Sadović.

At Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, at which the Governor-General, as Patron, presented the 2014 Churchill Fellowship Awards to ACT recipients.
