National Wattle Day Morning Tea

On Friday 29 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received Corporal Mark Donaldson VC and Mr Robert Joske OAM.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for Nguannawal Primary School students in recognition of National Wattle Day, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were presented with a basket of wattle.

Federal Executive Council; Visit to the Australian Commonwealth Games Association; Toorak Services Club Annual Dinner

On Thursday 28 August 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Mr Michael Teo.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea for the 2014 Global Voices youth delegates.

Then, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Mr John Quinn.

Opening of the exhibition ‘The Great War 1914-18: Sacrifice and Shadows’

On Wednesday 27 August 2014, at Government House, Hobart, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Lieutenant-Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Justice Alan Blow OAM and Mrs Margaret Blow.

Afterwards, at Parliament House, Hobart, the Governor-General met with the Premier of Tasmania, the Honourable Will Hodgman MP.

First Voice ‘Power of Speech’ Ceremony

On Tuesday 26 August 2014, at Parliament House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the First Voice ‘Power of Speech’ Ceremony, in recognition of Hearing Awareness Week.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the Chairman of the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust, Vice Admiral Russ Shalders AO CSC RAN (Retd).

First Voice Power of Speech

At Parliament House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a First Voice Power of Speech event, held during Hearing Awareness Week, at which the Governor-General presented awards to 12 participants, aged six to 11, who are some of the beneficiaries of First Voice, an alliance of six world-leading centres across Australia and New Zealand that provide support for children with hearing loss.
